Question Description

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING WORD LIMIT REQUIREMENTS:

Please note that each and every assignment has its own word limit.

Global health is a separate discipline requiring specific training and research methods and two arguments.

Public health and global health are two in the same and focus on the same objectives but differ in their strategies and approaches for prevention of disease, treatments, and management. In addition, both strive to improve the welfare of individuals, manage and ease short term and long-term health risks, while providing socioeconomic upliftment (“Difference between global health and public health,” 2017). From a Geopolitical standpoint, Global Health hones in on healthcare and policy challenges that cut across internationally, while Public Health is more specific focusing on communities and meeting national goals (“Difference between global health and public health,” 2017). Moreover, specific training and research methods when interrelationship amongst Allied Disciplines for Global Health is that it supports high interdisciplinary approaches whereas Public Health warrants multidisciplinary, specifically with healthcare and social sciences (“Difference between global health and public health,” 2017).

Identify and discuss one historical event that is important in how global health is understood today and how that event supports your argument.

The rate of mortality is increasing around the world due to noncommunicable causes tied to heart disease, stroke, and injuries (“Global health | Healthy people 2020,” 2020). Social and economic behaviors continue to rise in developing countries forcing Global Health initiatives to improve on health systems and surveillances. The communicable disease occurred many years ago back when controlling disease was impossible. Smallpox was a highly infectious disease that caused high rates of mortality over the years. Moreover, by the 1980s, smallpox was eradicated worldwide due to the result of a global immunization campaign. Global health is understood today in dealing with any global crisis that entails preparedness. Whether natural re-emergence, accidental or deliberate release of viruses, global and national attention must focus on specific education of health-care in the differential diagnosis, strengthening of national-level biosafety regulations in countries, and expansion of expertise in the area of laboratory biosafety and biosecurity (“Preparedness in the event of a smallpox outbreak,” 2017). Furthermore, these approaches are useful because they can connect past and present experiences and evaluate decisions made using a global point of view.
